406th Archive

The 406th FG WWII Memorial Association Archive is located at the Pima Air and Space Museum, Tucson, Arizona. The Associate donated the collection to PASM in 1996 with the understanding that they would hold it in safeguard, continue collecting materials and eventually formally catalog the collection. The Archive itself is perhaps 40 storage boxes of materials with a particularly rich array film footage and photographs.

Cataloging of the 406th Archive is underway and is to include a complete inventory of items arranged systematically with descriptive detail using identification and conservation methods to museum quality standard. Work includes a catalog record of each archival item including numbering, a description, prior history and ownership, location and means of physical and electronic retrieval, and a system for reflecting archival activity.

The project is being accomplished primarily by using a contracted archivist and Pima Air and Space Museum archivists. Volunteers may on occasion be drawn upon to help with the project. The effort is funded by the 406th Association by way of a gift from Maggy Grossetta and family.
