W elcome to Tucson's own 406th Fighter Group WWII Memorial Association. We are glad to have you on board!
The 406th Fighter Group fought its way across Europe during the Second World War as part of the 9th Air Force. They flew and maintained P-47 Thunderbolts in a primary roll of Tactical Air Support for the American 3rd Army and other Allied combat units. From D-Day to the Battle of the Bulge to final victory in Germany, the 406th was there front and center.
"I didn't tell them to attack, I merely suggested it.
To them, suggestion was enough."
Today the Pima Air and Space Museum (PASM) located in Tucson, Arizona is the home of the 406th Historical Archive and site of the 406th's Museum Permanent Display, which is located in Hanger 3. Come visit this marvelous facility with over 300 aircraft the next time you are in the Great Southwest!
